Where are environmental NPO jobs listed?

On June 18, 2003, Donald A. Griesmann, Esq., Ventnor, NJ, ([email protected]) updated this list of nonprofit employment sites; it is no longer being updated. Environment DevNetJobs ([email protected]) has listings of international development and environmental jobs and volunteer and intern opportunities at nonprofits and non-government organizations in the US and around the world. There is no charge for posting a job announcement and the distribution of the announcement to those seeking employees or volunteers. A free e-mail newsletter keeps some 30,000 subscribers informed about openings. Employers can post jobs by sending an e-mail with the announcement in the body of the e-mail to [email protected]. Job seekers can sign up for the free weekly jobs announcement at the site. A "value membership" package is available that costs $30.00US for three months to job seekers. In return the owners of the site state you will receive 8-12 openings with a complete description daily and "even more job opportunities." I am not certain where this additional list of job openings comes from for the $30.00US E-Jobs (http://www.ejobs.org/ and see http://www.ecoemploy.com/) has links to environmental opportunities in the USA and Canada. Employment includes careers such as environmental engineers, nature and wetlands scientists, GIS, technicians, chemists, earth sciences / geologists, policy and law, wildlife conservation, planning, education, wastewater treatment and operations, program and project management, natural resources, etc. Listings for government employment and nonprofit employement are available. Job openings that are to be posted must be related to the environment. Job announcements are to be sent to [email protected] as part of the body of an e-mail. Paid and unpaid positions are accepted. The posting must be a typical job vacancy announcement, with job description, qualifications, materials needed to apply, etc. Specific salary information is encouraged, but not required. Employers may choose to have their job postings distributed through a mailing list, in addition to (or instead of) being posted on the site. This may be particularly suited to positions that need to be filled quickly or positions that will be advertised only briefly. Employers pay an additional fee for the mailing list option, so many of the openings in the site’s Special Opportunities will not be advertised through the mailing list. There is a range of prices for employers posting openings depending whether the employer is for-profit or not-for-profit. When submitting a job announcement, specify the number of days it is to run, typically 21-30 days. There are helpful hints scattered throughout the site for job seekers including sample resumes, links to recruiters, US Visas and warnings about job scams. There is no charge for job seekers to sort through the jobs bank which are listed by job description, states, government and so on. The Environmental Career Opportunities, http://www.ecojobs.com is a subscription-based listing of employment opportunities regionally presented. Job listings are for NPOs, institutions, government and others. There is an e-mail service for jobseekers sent out every two weeks with a subscription to Environmental Career Opportunities. There is also a password-protected web site area for 500+ openings for subscribers. Subscription rates include 4 mailings, 2 months for $29 to a year, 24 issues for $129. Institutional subscriptions are higher. http://www.ejobs.org features environmental job links to U.S. and Canadian openings in NPOs, government and private industry, and environmental opportunities. Employment includes careers such as environmental engineers, nature and wetlands scientists, GIS, technicians, chemists, earth sciences/geologists, policy and law, wildlife conservation, planning, education, wastewater treatment and operations, program and project management, natural resources, etc. NPO employers may post a 1,500-word job announcement at a cost of $11 for up to 13 days, 30 days for $24 with rates available for longer periods of time. There is no location to post a resume but there are tips for creating resumes. The site says, "Welcome to the Green Dream Jobs", http://www.sustainablebusiness.com/jobs/, where there are national listings of jobs at nonprofits and sustainable businesses. Nonprofit jobs, however, are not a separate listing. Jobs and internship announcements are posted for 60 days and are both in the U.S. and international. The Environmental Employment Pages (EEP), http://www.datacor.com/jobfair/environment/home.html, at the time of this search, September 3, 2001, was closed for resumes. Jobseekers may search for employment by state or province, locations, type of profession. There were 9 openings the day of the search.
