Welcome to our focus page for advocates and policy makers. Check here for information on current and emerging issues and initiatives regarding support for healthy aging in New Mexico.

House Memorial 008, passed in 2015, establishes a task force to study and recommend policy changes to expand the availability of resources and assistance for grandparents raising grandchildren. The first Task Force Report summarizes issues facing grandparents raising grandchildren in New Mexico and offers a number of recommendations. The task force is continuing to meet in 2016.

Coordinating Team:

The EngAGE New Mexico project goals include the increase of funders’ awareness of aging issues and to build a coalition of funders that would enhance the impact of grantmaking to better support New Mexico’s aging population. The project is also interested in identifying ways to increase partnerships between public and private sectors to make New Mexico a model aging-friendly state, including developing advocacy positions and pushing for reform on behalf of the senior population.
