Child Development Center/Day Care Center - 2 Star License Kindergarten Preschool
New Mexico registered and licensed child care programs are required to meet basic health and safety regulations. Additionally, the quality of all licensed programs is rated based on leveled criteria as determined by the state of New Mexico. This quality rating system is called Look for the STARS because each program's STAR level or quality level is indicated by the number of stars on the program's child-care license. One and two stars indicate that the program meets minimal licensing regulations. Three, four and five stars indicate that the program meets progressively higher levels of quality - with five stars being the highest level of quality possible. A child-care subsidy is paid at a higher rate when a parent chooses to enroll their child in a program with a higher level of quality.
