Emergency Preparedness

For Local and State Emergency Preparedness: In times of emergency, the Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) and the Caddo Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness operate disaster coordination and response activities from the Caddo or Bossier Parish Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Examples include: evacuation notices, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices, and missing child reports.

For Families: Preplanning is key to successfully managing an emergency and its aftermath. Do you have an emergency plan for yourself and your family? Having enough food, water, first-aid supplies, fire extinguisher, clothing, and bedding to last your family for three to five days  is important in response to emergency situations. It is valuable to develop a household emergency preparedness plan that includes: an emergency preparedness kit, an escape plan, an out-of-town person to be your point of contact for family members to call if you are separated, and information about school and workplace emergency plans. The American Red Cross has developed a tool kit for families at http://www.redcross.org/prepare/nationalpreparednessmonth. The Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has also developed an emergency preparedness guide called Get a Game Plan.

The emergency relief page will be activated during disaster.
