Pasting NCCS Data Web summary reports into Excel (Helpful Hint)

Here are a few suggestions for quickly formatting your spreadsheet:

FROM THE DATA WEB

1. Press Ctrl-A or Edit, Select All to select all text in the Summary Report.

2. Then press Ctrl-C or Edit, Copy to copy the text.

FROM EXCEL: DISPLAYING THE TABLE

1. Open Excel if it's not already open.

2. Before pasting the data into a new worksheet, if your row labels are long, widen the first column first so that the row heights don't stretch to accomodate wrapped text.

3. Press Ctrl-V or choose Edit, Paste from Excel.

FORMATTING THE TABLE IN EXCEL

1. If you want row and column borders, press Ctrl-A to select all cells, choose Format, Cells.

- Then from the Format Cells dialogue box, click on the Borders tab at the top.

- Click on the Outline and Inside buttons at the top of the Borders tab to add a thin line. To change the border style, click on the appropriate style on the right side and press Outline and Inside again.

2. Left align the row labels. Highlight the top of the column where it says "A" and click on the "Align Left" button on your toolbar, which looks like a series of left-aligned lines and is usually displayed next to the Underline button ("U").
