SENIOR HEALTH

Central Desert Behavioral Health Center

Serving patients throughout New Mexico, the Central Desert Behavior Health Center provides mental health services for seniors age 50 and over.

New Mexico Senior Olympics

Seniors age 50 and over can enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle through the Senior Olympics, which includes 28 sporting events. New Mexico Senior Olympics prmostes senior health through one-hour classes that meet three times a week, with emphasis on fitness training, stretching, aerobics, balance and strength training. It also hosts All Indian Game Day, designed to introduce Native American seniors to Senior Olympic sports and activities.

New Mexico Senior Sports Foundation

The goal of the New Mexico Senior Sports Foundation is to promote health and fitness for seniors age 50 and over through recreational sports and athletic experiences.

Senior Well-Being Clinics

Senior Well-Being Clinics are brought to local communities in order to improve health awareness and health care decisions of low-income seniors in New Mexico. Staff and volunteers provide health care screenings on-site, as well as referrals to primary care providers.

HELP FOR SENIORS

Bernalillo Senior Centers—Bernalillo County Senior Program

The Bernalillo County Senior Program provides senior meal sites throughout the county as well as meals to homebound seniors. Transportation, housekeeping services, volunteer programs—seniors in Albuquerque, NM and Bernalillo County can find it all through the Bernalillo County Senior Program.

Curry Resident Senior Meals Association

The Curry Resident Senior Meals Association provides hot lunches Monday through Friday in Clovis, NM. Overall, the association delivers 500 meals to home bound seniors every week.

Grant County Senior Services

Grant County Senior Services provides meals and transportation for seniors in Grant County. Additional services for seniors provided by Grant County Senior Services includes programs for employment, volunteering and the coordination of services.

Northwest New Mexico Seniors, Inc.

This is the administrative office for senior center sites in Aztec, Bloomfield, Blanco, Farmington and Fruitland, New Mexico.

Valencia County Senior Support

Valencia County Senior Support provides a variety of services for seniors in order to improve the health and self-sufficiency of seniors in Valencia County. This includes ramps and grab-bars for disables seniors, as well as installing carbon monoxide detectors in seniors’ homes.

Santa Fe Senior Activity Funds Raising & Management

This program assists needy seniors in the form of housing for seniots, home repair, food services for seniors and respite care. Santa Fe Senior Activity Funds Raising & Management also provides help for seniors through assistance with utilities, phone bills groceries.

Senior Citizens Law Office, Inc.

The Senior Citizens Law Office, Inc., provides legal representation for seniors age 60 and over in Bernalillo, Valencia, Torrance and Sandoval Counties.

GRANDPARENTS RAISING GRANDCHILDREN

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Community Alliance

This alliance between several New Mexico nonprofits actively supports grandparents who are raising grandchildren throughout the state. The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Community Alliance also includes the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group.

MCH Family Outreach—GAPP

The MCH Family Outreach serves grandparents raising grandchildren through its Grandparents as Parents Program.

SENIOR HOUSING

Siringo Senior Housing Program

In addition to providing below-market rents in an eight-apartment unit in Albuquerque, the Siringo Senior Housing Program provides case management, financial counseling and assistance with obtaining senior benefits in New Mexico.

Ventana de Vida Senior Center

This senior housing center provides senior housing for low-income residents and offers a host of low cost and free services for seniors. It is located in Santa Fe, NM.

Mary Esther Gonzales Senior Center

Also located in Santa Fe, the Mary Esther Gonzales Senior Center provides affordable housing for seniors as well as low-cost and free services for seniors.

Friendship Senior Center

Located in Clovis, NM, the Friendship Senior Center provides food distributions and support programs, as well as services for veterans.

SENIORS MEETING SENIORS

Foster Grandparents/Senior Companions

Located in Espanola, NM, this senior program is twofold. Foster grandparents—volunteers age 55 and older—volunteer to work with youth in Rio Arriba Schools to develop the skills, confidence and strength to succeed in life. Senior Companions provide assistance to other seniors with developmental disabilities or special needs in an effort to help them maintain their independent living.

Las Cruces Senior Citizens Corporation

Dedicated to providing a variety of opportunities for seniors 50 and over, the Las Cruces Senior Citizens Corporation hosts recreational activities for seniors meeting seniors, including dances, luncheons, pool tournaments and crafts.

Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization

Designed for retirees and seniors age 55 and older, the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization hosts Senior Activity Sites where seniors can learn, share meals, socialize, have fun and support each other.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program

Senior volunteers unite! The Retired Senior Volunteer Program recruits senior volunteers to share their experience and skills in the Santa Fe, NM community through mentorship, tutoring and other volunteer projects.

Senior Arts Project

The Senior Arts Project invites seniors to join workshops and performances in the disciplines of music, dance, theatre, literature and visual arts.
